To be an official candidate for City of Lakefield, an individual must complete an affidavit of candidacy and submit a $2 filing fee with the City Clerk at Lakefield City Hall during the designated period.
Copies of the Affidavit of Candidacy and Campaign Packets are available and provided to candidates.
Any individual considering candidacy should verify they are qualified before filing for office. When filing an affidavit of candidacy, individuals must state under oath that they:
- are eligible to vote.
- will be at least 21 years of age upon taking office.
- will have been a resident of the ward for at least 30 days before the general election.
- have no other affidavit on file for the same primary or ensuing general election.
