Public Works Worker

Full-Time Position

 Position Summary: Performs routine and skilled maintenance and repair work with city streets, vehicles, equipment, parks, grounds, storm sewers, water/wastewater infrastructure, pool, city hall, street department and buildings and performs related duties as required. Equipment includes but is not limited to department vehicles, hand and power tools, and a variety of heavy and light equipment as well as office equipment including computer hardware and software.  Position will include paid on-call rotation for operation of City water plant and municipal swimming pool (seasonal).

The salary range for the position is $23.58-$30.04 per hour plus benefits and paid on-call.  Starting salary is anticipated to be $23.58/hr – $30.04/hr depending on experience.

 Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CDL within six months of hire.
• MN Driver’s License

Preference may be given to an individual who has substantial experience in municipal government or like position.

Finance Manager

Full-Time Position

 Manages, coordinates and completes all financial activities for the City of Lakefield. The Financial Manager works under the direction of the City Council, Utility Board and EDA Board. This position processes City payroll, performs accounts payable and cash management functions, manages EDA loan payment funds, coordinates City budget, and recommends preliminary and final property tax levy to the Council.  This position also acts as an audit liaison for the City, conducts fixed asset and debt management activities, coordinates property tax and special assessments, manages City insurances, and prepares financial statements.  

The salary range for the position is $32.39-$41.91 per hour plus benefits.

 Minimum Qualifications

• Four-year BS or BA degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field; and
• Five years relevant work experience; OR
• Equivalent combination of education/training/experience.
• CPA and/or governmental accounting experience is desirable.

 Preference may be given to an individual who has substantial experience in municipal government or a similar position.

ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT:

 

Lakefield Public Utilities is looking for an Electrical Journeyman and Apprentice Lineman for the positions of the electric department. Lakefield is a progressive community of 1,700 people in SW Minnesota that maintains an electrical distribution system and a stand-by generation plant. Minimum qualifications include a degree from a college or technical school or job experience equivalent and must be able to obtain a Minnesota Class B CDL with air brake endorsement. Duties include working in the electric department in the construction and maintenance of the city’s electrical distribution system, including stringing wire, setting poles, placing transformers, installing meters, and other work as needed. Starting salary based on knowledge and experience.
